Determined. Calm. Respectful.

Vice President of Economic Development, North Country Chamber of Commerce
Hometown: Champlain, NY
Age: 39
Education: Degree in Business and Degree in Communications, both from University at Albany.
Abby is more than her title. She’s an Adirondack 46er, a believer in collaboration, and a woman who values respect, support, and setting meaningful goals—whether she’s climbing mountains or navigating boardrooms. With her calm leadership style and love for her community, Abby is helping to shape a stronger, more connected North Country—one thoughtful step at a time.
What part of your company’s culture do you value the most and why?
The collaborative environment. We are first and foremost a team and want to ensure that we deliver the best service to our member businesses, so no one is afraid to ask for help from, bounce an idea off of, or collaborate with a co-worker. I think that shows a high level of respect for each other’s knowledge and insight, which I very much appreciate.
Who are your mentors and role models who have shaped your leadership style?
It’s important to me to be a calm, steady leader, entrusting my team to do the jobs they were hired to do while at the same time providing clear direction and positive support. My former boss from my time spent in the New York State Comptroller’s Office, Jen Freeman, was integral in shaping that mindset. She led the Executive Communications team for one of only four statewide elected officials with confidence and grace while also at the same time raising her young son. How she approached balancing her career with motherhood really instilled in me that while it’s not easy, you don’t have to sacrifice one for the other.
How do you strive to make an impact in your workplace or industry?
The North Country Chamber of Commerce has a respected reputation of being a strong economic development organization for the North Country and my goal is to continue that legacy. Our region is home to incredible businesses that offer wonderful job opportunities, and I will to continue to grow and support that community.
