Dustin is perfectly suited for his profession. Growing up with a Mom who was both a teacher and a coach, he saw the impact she had on the lives of her students and learned that working with young minds is not only rewarding as you watch them learn, grow, and start to think for themselves, but you develop lifelong relationships.


What part of your company’s culture do you value the most and why?


Our mission and vision. As an institution, we are focused on ensuring that our students become quality contributors to society and self while offering world-class educational opportunities! I am also impressed with our focus on continual improvement, as evidenced by our current strategic planning work.


Tell us about your community involvement.


I have served as a Fire Commissioner and a member of the Altona Town Council.


Who are your mentors and role models who have shaped your leadership style?


My parents are the reason I am the human I am today. They instilled in me the importance of hard work. Professionally, Jerry Griffin, former superintendent of Malone CSD, where I spent 15 years of my professional career, is someone who impacted me immensely. And finally, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention my husband, Keith. Without his support, none of my growth would be possible. He is truly my rock!


How do you strive to make an impact in your workplace or industry?


Every day, I remind myself of what it means to be a leader. It is not about taking charge, it is about taking care of those within your charge, per Simon Sinek. Maya Angelou once said, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”


What important lesson have you learned in your career?


The most important thing I do each day is listen with intention. My goal is to always make sure that those with whom I come in contact with feel heard and validated.
