Issue: June 2022

In 2014 when we produced our first Strictly Business issue focusing on up-and-coming community leaders we were pleased at the enthusiastic feedback. The issue was so well received we decided to make it an annual event.

Each year we invite members of the business community to nominate young professionals who are making a mark on their business or industry. Suggestions come from companies, agencies and non-profits large and small. Sixty percent of this year’s group are natives of northern New York. The rest have relocated from places like Chicago, Vermont, Tennessee, Ontario, and Slovakia. They include a Direct Support Professional, a Marketing Manager, a Development Director, a Paralegal, a COO, a Continuous Improvement Agent, a Doctor of Physical Therapy, two entrepreneurs, a Financial Planner, the Plattsburgh Town Clerk, a Research Scientist, a Paralegal, a VP/CFO, an accountant, an attorney, and the Plattsburgh Community Development Director.

In addition to our 2022 selections, we bring you a look back at “Where Are They Now” featuring four graduates of our early SB young leaders’ issues: Matej Kollar, Molly Ryan, Ryan Lee, and Billy Jones. Our Insight feature this month, David Allen, is also a graduate of a previous SB issue. Each has moved up quickly in their profession and has confirmed the wisdom of our initial choices.

And now it is time for this year’s great reveal. We invite you to review the profiles of our 2022 Rising Stars. We believe you will find inspiration in their stories.

This new generation of business and civic leaders is talented, dedicated and they are making the North Country a better place to live and work. They are eager to become our leaders of tomorrow…and that’s good for business.
