Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital

A Century of Caring: 1926-2026

When Physicians Hospital welcomed the first patients to its new facility on Beekman Street in January of 1926, a new era of health care began in the North Country. Patients expected and received high quality care delivered by a team dedicated to excellence and proud to be part of something truly special. It was standard set by hospital benefactor William H. Miner whose vision of health care in the North Country came to life with the opening of the state-of-the art, 212-bed facility.

Our organization has been shaped by generations of caregivers, staff and physicians who have proudly served our community. As we celebrate this centennial milestone, we do so with deep gratitude for the people who made Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital what it is — a place of healing, dedication and neighbors helping neighbors. Each generation has left its mark, shared its story and paved a path for those who followed.

Health care has changed dramatically over the past 100 years, and we’ve evolved to meet the changing needs of this community thanks to the commitment of the health care professionals who made the well-being of their community — and their North Country neighbors — the focus of everything they did. That same dedication to patient-centered care continues to be our guiding principle as we look to the future.

This anniversary is not only a moment to reflect, but a moment to cherish and look ahead. As we begin our next century, we do so together, grounded in our history, inspired by our people and committed to caring for this community for generations to come.

Together we honor our past, celebrate our present and look to our future united by care, compassion and community.

Join us throughout the year as we mark 100 years of caring and look ahead to what’s next.
