Ryan Brienza didn’t wait around for opportunity—he built it. At just 14 years old, he developed his first saleable app, launching a tech-savvy entrepreneurial journey that would lead to his role today as CEO of Zafra, LLC. Now 26, Ryan leads one of the North Country’s most innovative blockchain infrastructure companies, blending his passion for crypto, his drive for innovation, and his belief in the power of trust-based business.
What part of your company’s culture do you value the most and why?
I value our tight-knit, collaborative culture most. Building this business from the ground up, I’ve shaped a team where work feels like a lifestyle, not a job. This trust fosters strong, successful client relationships and advanced block chain infrastructure.
Who are your mentors and role models who have shaped your leadership style?
My parents are my primary mentors and role models. Growing up watching them run their own business sparked my entrepreneurial spirit early on. Their support and lessons in ethical, trust-based business practices shaped my leadership style, driving me to innovate and build a collaborative team in my venture.
How do you strive to make an impact in your workplace or industry?
I strive to make an impact by building trust and efficiency in the crypto mining industry. As a reliable, innovative service provider, I lead my team to design and operate cutting-edge facilities that optimize performance, fostering strong, successful client relationships and advancing blockchain infrastructure.
What is the biggest risk you have ever taken?
Skipping the path of going to college to build this business.
How can the North Country improve its’ Gen IQ (Gen IQ defined as an ability to lead, market to or innovate with multi-generational workplaces and marketplace)?
The North Country can boost its Gen IQ by embracing new industries to drive multi-generational growth. As a crypto mining developer, I’ve faced significant resistance, like Plattsburgh’s 2018 crypto moratorium, which limited talent and economic potential. To lead, we must foster cross-generational teams, blending veteran expertise with young innovators. By adopting an open-minded approach, the North Country can attract talent and capitalize on new industries.
