Summer on the Adirondack Coast means the return of bass fishing tournament season on Lake Champlain, where early morning launches, packed waterfronts and exciting weigh-ins have become a signature part of the experience in Plattsburgh. Throughout July and August, professional anglers and spectators from across the country will gather along the Dock Street Waterfront for weeks of competition and family-friendly fun on the water. Beyond the excitement, the tournaments also bring a strong economic impact to the region, helping support local hotels, restaurants, marinas, retailers, and small businesses during the height of the tourism season. “There’s just a really nice energy around the waterfront during tournament weekends,” said Kristy Kennedy, Vice President of Marketing and Tourism for the North Country Chamber of Commerce. “People come out to watch the launches, businesses stay busy and it gives visitors another reason to explore the Adirondack Coast during the summer season.”

Known nationally for its scenic beauty and excellent fishing conditions, Lake Champlain continues to attract elite anglers while offering spectators an up-close look at one of the country’s premier bass fisheries. Boat launches, weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

Seven major bass fishing tournaments will hit Lake Champlain this summer, bringing

professional anglers, spectators, and waterfront excitement to the Adirondack Coast:

July 18, 2026: Reynolds Boats Northern Bass Tournament

July 24–26, 2026: MLF Tackle Warehouse Pro Circuit

July 31–August 2, 2026: Mercury B.A.S.S. Nation

August 8, 2026: MLF Phoenix Bass Fishing League

August 13–16, 2026: Bassmaster Elite Series

August 22, 2026: Thayer’s Marine Team Trail

August 27–29, 2026: MLF Toyota Series

Each tournament follows catch-and-release practices and emphasizes responsible fishing efforts that help preserve Lake Champlain’s fishery for years to come.

East Coast Watercross returns to Plattsburgh City Beach

Another weekend of high-speed action on Lake Champlain. More than 100 racers from across the U.S. and Canada will compete on a challenging buoy course as they battle for podium finishes, championship points, and a share of the prize purse.
